BAICE Submits Proposal to Host 2016 WCCES World Congress

WCCESMessage from BAICE Chair, Dr Caroline Dyer

Dear BAICE member,

I am delighted to share news with you about the bid we have just submitted to host a major international event, the 2016 World Congress of Comparative Education Societies, in Glasgow.

Building on a successful Expression of Interest submitted last year, this full bid was drafted by a team consisting of BAICE representatives Mike Osborne, Michele Schweisfurth and Malcolm Mercer, working with Campbell Arnot (City of Glasgow). It was written in close consultation with the BAICE Executive, who saw and commented on the initial draft during January. The result is an outstanding bid on an exciting and intellectually stimulating theme, held in a major European City of Culture.

There is stiff competition, but we have every reason to feel confident. The next step is for the drafting team to present the bid in person to the WCCES committee in New Orleans, in early March. It is a bid of which BAICE can be very proud, and our presenters have the backing of a strong and committed Association as they make the case on our behalf.
