Message from the Campaign for Social Science

social-science-campaign-1A message from Ewan MacArthur, Communications Officer, Campaign for Social Sciences

Dear Colleague,

As a supporter of the Campaign for Social Science, we thought we would inform you that the Campaign has started to work on a report on the value of the social sciences to the future of the UK.

At a reception, held in partnership with SAGE publishers at the Reform Club on Wednesday April 2nd, it was announced that the Campaign will publish this report ahead of the next general election in 2015. The report will present a clear and compelling argument about the economic, social and public policy contribution of the social sciences. The tone of the report will be confident and upbeat, written in full awareness of the world-class nature of the social sciences in the UK. At the same time, the report will realistically take into consideration threats to the future of the social sciences in this country. This report can be found here (http://www.socialsciencespace.com/2014/04/uk-social-science-readies-its-case-before-2015-elections/) an interview with the Chair of the Campaign for Social Science, James Wilsdon, concerning this report as well as the current state of the social sciences in the UK and the work of the Campaign more generally.

We will be posting updates about the report as it progresses so be sure to check our website (http://campaignforsocialscience.org.uk/) and twitter page (@CfSocialScience<https://twitter.com/CfSocialScience>) for further news.

Thank you for your support.

Best Wishes,

Ewen
