Benjamin Mulvey

Benjamin is a Lecturer in the School of Education at the University of Glasgow, where he is Programme Leader for the MSc in Education, Public Policy and Equity and Deputy Director of Postgraduate Research Studies. He was previously a Research Grants Council Postdoctoral Fellow at the Education University of Hong Kong and a Visiting Researcher at University of Sydney and University College London. His research focuses on the sociology of international higher education, with particular attention to China, international student mobility between Africa and China, social inequalities in transitions from higher education to the labour market and academic freedom. His interdisciplinary work has been published in journals across education, sociology and geography, including Higher Education, Sociology and Journal of Ethnic and Migration Studies, and featured in media outlets such as The Economist, The New York Times and Times Higher Education.
