Announcing… BAICE 2022

We are excited to announce that BAICE 2022 will be held at the University of Edinburgh from Tuesday 13th – Thursday 15th September next year.

We are currently planning and hoping for an in-person conference. However, we will also incorporate virtual sessions and events to include those who are not able to travel, and of course we will have a contingency plan to move online if necessary.

The theme of the conference will be Partnerships in education: collaboration, co-operation and co-optation. We invite papers and contributions that critically consider the changing relationships around how education is conceptualised, planned, implemented, provided, resisted, researched and communicated in various contexts. While recognising the potential value of collaboration, we intend to challenge the normative, aspirational pursuit of partnership.

Some of you may remember that this was our tentative theme for BAICE 2020 which we had to cancel because of the pandemic. However, we feel these issues are even more pertinent within the context of Coronavirus which has highlighted global interconnectedness and challenged geopolitics of knowledge and expertise.

We will shortly be putting a call out for applications for up to six colleagues from the international and comparative education community to join our conference committee. This is a really exciting opportunity to contribute to the overall conference strategy, co-lead and shape conference sub-themes and oversee the smooth running of the conference.

The BAICE Exec look forward to welcoming you to our conference next year!
