Accessibility and Inclusion

A warm welcome to everyone who is planning to come to BAICE 2026 in September. At the conference, we are approaching accessibility and inclusion not only as a matter of physical access, but as a commitment to creating a conference environment in which everyone feels valued, able to fully participate, and network.

General provisions

The conference will be held in the James McCune Building (also known as the Learning Hub). There will be spaces to take time away from sessions, stretch, or find a quiet space when needed.

Information on the Learning Hub can be found on the AccessAble website.  The building has elevators on all levels, a faith and reflection room on level 7, a quiet zone on level 5, accessible and gender-neutral toilet facilities on all levels, accessible toilet facilities with an accessible shower on level 2, and baby changing adapted toilets on levels 1 and 2.

In the conference rooms, there will be seats reserved near the front for visual and hearing-impaired participants. There will be cards on these seats to indicate the reserved places.

During discussions, session chairs will ensure that questions are asked one at a time so that all participants can follow the discussions.

Provisions made on request

As we work to ensure that the conference is accessible to participants with a range of needs, we encourage you to identify any requirements during registration so that appropriate support can be arranged, wherever possible. This includes assistance for those with mobility issues or with visual impairments for:

• Transportation to and from the Oran Mor for the conference dinner, and transport to the reception hosted by Glasgow City. The drinks reception and gala dinner locations are within walking distance of the conference venue. However, for those who have mobility issues, we will be providing taxis. There will be a sign-up sheet at the registration desk for this. Please ensure you have signed up by 12 noon on the day of each event.

• On-site personal support needs (visual impairment, sign language, personal assistance, breastfeeding, prayer/ quiet time). Volunteers are available to point you in the right direction.

• Dietary requirements

Accessibility and inclusion are also about how we treat one another. We ask all participants to contribute to a conference culture based on kindness, respect, and openness.
