Feed the Minds is hosting a discussion forum on the topic of women’s literacy which is part of our 50th Anniversary “unlocking potential” campaign. Feed the Minds is committed to the important role women’s literacy plays in development and this discussion will build upon recent related work carried out in partnership with the Literacy Working Group (LWG) and the British Association for Literacy in Development (BALID).

Under the banner of The Missing Millions: why we should invest in women’s literacy we will look at the importance and need of women’s literacy in development. Through the discussion we hope to explore potential strategies for addressing some of the challenges in advocacy for women’s literacy and for stimulating policy response and action on the ground.

The aims of the event are:

1) To stimulate discussion around policy relating to women’s literacy

2) To explore potential strategies for addressing the challenges of women’s literacy, including
the need for targeted research and evaluation of existing initiatives.
