Introducing the BAICE President 2022-2023

Nidhi Singal
Professor Nidhi Singal

The BAICE Executive Committee is delighted to announce that the new President of the Association is Professor Nidhi Singal from the University of Cambridge. Nidhi’s work on inclusion and education is globally renowned, but her inclusivity and intellectual generosity as a colleague position her perfectly for the role of BAICE President.

In her inaugural address Professor Singal remembered her first BAICE conference as a PhD student in 2002 – which was also her first academic conference. Her abiding memory is the warmth shown to her by colleagues in the field – even at that very early stage of her career. Recognition and celebration of the work of academics at all career stages is something BAICE strives to be known for, and Nidhi was passionate about creating new ways of ensuring this during her term as BAICE Chair between 2018-2020.

Professor Singal said that it is an “incredible honour” to be invited to be President of an association that “challenges and enriches thinking” and that she is looking forward to supporting BAICE as its ambitions evolve.

We are thrilled to have Nidhi as BAICE President for 2022/23. Her research on educational inequity and marginalisation of learners with disabilities in low-income contexts has brought this pertinent issue to the forefront of policy debates. We are looking forward to working with her to strengthen BAICE as an association that represents the voice of the peoples who are struggling to gain access to quality learning globally.
