Prof Fiona Leach

Fiona Leach

Fiona Leach is Professor Emerita of Education at the University of Sussex. She worked in Africa as a teacher and education adviser for many years before becoming an academic. She has published widely in the field of gender and education, focusing in particular on gender-based violence in and around schools (SRGBV). She has addressed international conferences on this topic and co-authored several global reviews on approaches to addressing the issue.
She has recently finished a book documenting the lives of the first women to teach girls in West Africa in the early 19th century.
