Rafael Mitchell

Rafael Mitchell is Senior Lecturer in Comparative and International Education and co-director of the University of Bristol’s Centre for Comparative and International Research in Education (CIRE). His research focuses on processes of schooling and school improvement in African and other low- and middle-income countries, and inequalities in knowledge production in education. Rafael is a co-founder of the African Education Research Database, and collaborates with researchers across the region to address issues of inclusion, equity, and quality in education. Rafael contributes to anti-racist and decolonising initiatives in UK schools, and serves as a school governor in Bristol.
