Compare: a Journal of International and Comparative Education is seeking a Book Editor to join the Co-Editorial team at the journal. The role will suit an academic with a strong interest in International and/or Comparative Education (or Education and International Development), with some editorial experience, who is interested in keeping abreast of new publications in the field and working with/supporting book reviewers to develop reviews for publications. The person appointed would join an enthusiastic and active team of four co-editors at Compare. The duties of the role include:
- Commissioning reviews of books that would be of particular interest to readers of Compare (including identifying books and reviewers, responding to enquiries from potential reviewers etc)
- Reviewing and providing feedback on submitted reviews, and working with/supporting reviewers to improve their reviews and ensure that they are of publishable standard
- Coordinating with publishers to get review copies of books sent out to book reviewers
- Coordinating with the production team at Taylor and Francis to get completed reviews into the production/publication process
- Participating in Compare board meetings as a member of the Editorial Board
