Compare – Call for applications for Post of Reviews Editor

Compare is the official journal of the British Association for International and Comparative Education (BAICE) and has six issues per year. It publishes high quality research covering a wide range of issues and geographical areas which are of international significance within international and comparative education. In recent years its readership and number of submitted manuscripts have increased substantially. The journal’s impact factor has experienced a stellar rise, increasing from 0.45 in 2013 to 0.8 in 2015.

To continue these positive trends, the Editorial Board of Compare is currently looking for a Reviews Editor,  to join the journal’s Co-Editors: Dr Tristan McCowan, Dr Jan Germen Janmaat  and Dr. Sheila Trahar. The new Reviews Editor will take over from Dr. Jenny Parkes.

The appointment is for an initial term of three years, which can be extended for a further term by mutual agreement. The Reviews Editor will have general responsibilities for editing book reviews and managing the reviews process.  This includes identifying books for review, and liaising with publishers;soliciting reviewers, assigning and distributing books, and tracking the reviews process;and editing reviews. In addition, the Reviews Editor edits and oversees the process of publishing PhD abstracts on the BAICE website.  An interest in comparative education and international development is essential.

The Reviews Editor will work closely with the Co-Editors, with the Chair of the Editorial Board (Prof Qing Gu) and the Editorial Board, and receive administrative support from the editorial assistant. S/he is expected to attend three Board meetings per year and to contribute to the writing of the editorial reports for the Editorial Board . An honorarium of 1500 pounds is paid annually for the Editorship.

Members of the editorial board, including the Reviews Editor, are expected to be members of BAICE.
